Double-mint: ’70 Volkswagen Double Cab Pick-up
VW buses are synonymous with the counter-culture of the 60s and early 70s. The double and single cabs were more apt to be driven by tradesman than hippies. We like these commercial vehicles and think they can be re-tasked to be a great platform for the outdoorsy set. Just envision the side flaps down and a tent pitched on the platform. No fear of crawling things getting into your sleeping bag. Perhaps you can tell that we are city folk by this comment. And yes, one can do that in any pickup truck but somehow it is much more appropriate in a VW. Besides, it is a VW and very fuel-efficient and the rear engine placement gives good traction in the boonies. Today’s find is an original 74,000 mile truck with a newer paint job. It was a color change from beige to white but since this won’t be on the lawn at Pebble Beach who really cares. Paint it anything you want. Click here for the eBay auction.
