Type-cast: ’64 Jaguar XK E-Type FHC
We absolutely love it when we stumble across a really nice, honest car particularly one that isn’t marketed on eBay currently. That’s not a poke at eBay for they are to be applauded for becoming the popular site to find good stuff. And of course, how can you not get excited by finding a Silver Blue Metallic, E-Type Fixed Head Coupe. God, do we love Fixed Head Coupes. On any given day, you can find a bunch of decent or extraordinary E-Type OTSs but not so many Fixed Head Coupes. This one is just the way you want it. It is not too virginal since it had the rockers replaced and it isn’t concours, but the floors are solid and original. So is the vulnerable and beautiful nose. The chrome is decent too. The real nice part of the cosmetics is the original interior which has a bunch of patina that is more than serviceable. Okay, the heater doesn’t work. Don’t know why and I am sure it is a bit of a pain to deal with. I’d rather have a non-working heater than a crooked car any day. Maybe you just depend on the DOHC Straight Six to pump heat into the cabin. No work required there. The brakes need attention although they do stop the car. Perhaps not well enough. Hey this is a hobby so you need to put a little effort into it on your own or you won’t feel connected. We are very, very connected to our M-B 230S. Maybe too connected. The sellers are well-known in the hobby and hail from tony Philadelphia. They have honestly represented the few deficiencies the car has. A PPI will tell the full story and it is probably better than you think. The ask is $64,500 and that is in the ball park for a #2 car. This might be close and the exterior color and interior are assets. See it here at LBI Limited.
