Alvis is in the house: ’53 Alvis-Healey
Now this is a Healey you don’t see every day. The primary reason is that they built only 25 cars and few survived. It is a predecessor of the Nash-Healey sharing similar lines as penned by Gerry Coker. The Alvis powertrain produces a healthy 106 horses so it should move out quite well. This car showed up in Texas of all places not that Texans don’t appreciate fine English sports cars. It is virtually an original example with few long-term owners. The paint and brightwork is said to be as it left the factory. They state the interior’s buckets are not original but they sort of look like they belong there. The steering wheel is from an early Triumph probably a TR2 or 3. There are so few of these, Hagerty and Sports Car Market Price Guide have little to offer. The last sale of a similar car that was in #4 condition sold for just over $61,000. What will an original unrestored car go for? So far the auction is hovering in the $40,000 range but we are sure there are collectors out there waiting for the final seconds to try and snag this rarity. Click here for the eBay auction listing.
