Save it: ’72 Datsun 510 Sedan
It is really rare to find an original low mileage 510 Sedan with a manual transmission. We did and we need to rescue it from a life of boredom. The original owner was a Datsun collector back in the ’70s. He acquired the 510 new and drove it sparingly. The second owner and seller has put some miles on it but that seems to be a bit of a disconnect for us. The eBay auction lists the mileage at 6889. Now that is low and that raises a few suspicions. It required a new interior and that would seem odd for a super low mileage car. And there is a rust spot by the rear window. Just saying. But even if it has 106,889 miles it remains a hard car to find. And why do we want to find one you ask? We look at these as inexpensive versions of a Japanese made BMW 1600 or 2002. If you watch any of the seller’s videos, you’ll see right away the build quality is nowhere near a BMW’s level. But they are fun to drive and you can build them to suit your personality and needs. We think this is a candidate for an event rally car based on the successful cars that ran the PRO rallies back in the 70s. We found this link to a website heralding Datsun’s rally successes. It has already been bid up to $5700 by 27 bidders so you can see that people are interested in this one too. So you have a day and a half to plan your move and capture this one for yourself.
