Hmmm: ’83 Volvo 240GLT Turbo
I have to be careful what I say here because many of our readers have a sharper recollection than I when it comes to these wonderful Volvos. I’ve had about a baker’s dozen of these, all new and in either 2,4 or 5 doors. Why so many you ask? I worked at Volvo in the 80s and 90s and was blessed to qualify for a company car each year. That perk plus the ability to lease another at a favorable rate adds up to lots of Turbo 240 Volvos. I even think I had one like today’s featured car in Redwood Metallic. I was responsible for color & trim books among a host of other things yet I don’t recall naming anything Redwood. But I guess it is possible. I was privileged to be among the first to drive an Intercooled 240 Turbo and that was so much fun. It was a Graphite Grey 4-door that could vanquish any BMW I’d come across. But that was then, this is now. A 24,000 mile all original 240GLT Turbo is utterly impossible to find outside of the museum in Goteborg. I think I put 24,000 miles within the first year! Not quite but you have to admit it is pretty amazing. All of the colors look nice and bright, everything except the radio looks factory fresh. This is the car you should buy if your daughter is just getting her license. It’s a little fast but merging onto the highway properly is a safety factor. Haven’t a clue what this one will sell for. If it is an average car, try $3000 but it isn’t. Click here for the eBay auction.
