Safari: ’63 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Coupe
We really appreciate these hand-built cars from Mercedes-Benz. Rightfully, the Cabriolet gets all of the love but we think the Coupe is just more handsome. You could buy 2 or 3 nice Coupes for the price of one nice Cabriolet and that seems due for change. Today’s featured Coupe is a 220SE and it is a beautiful example in great colors. We hope it is as nice in person as it appears in the photos.
The really interesting feature of this car is the very rare factory individual seating. In other words, four bucket seats. The factory called it Safari seating for some bizarre reason. We’ve been able to confirm the existence of this seating option from comments on the M-B Club website. The seats look like they are in nice condition as does the rest of the interior. These are expensive to restore so that is important. The drivetrain isn’t that unique and M-B Classic Center has pretty much everything you could need to keep it running well. It is the unique exterior and interior parts that can be hard to source. Most people rely on used parts or restore what the car came with. The asking price is $19,900. Not bad if it is as nice as we think. Click here for the listing.
