Swiss roots: 54 MG TF 1250
This neat, original, MG TF is a 1250cc or XPAG/TF engine car according to our research. The seller didn’t specify this in the listing but thankfully, provided the chassis number that tells all. We now know this is the 5,997th TF produced out of 6,200 in ’53 and ’54. It is finished in Mid-Green, and is right hand drive for the home market of the UK. The listing says that the TF was brought over from Switzerland in ’69 and still sports a CH badge on the exterior fuel tank. The paint, we are told, is original although the photos appear more yellow than Mid-Green but we are sure there has been some serious fading over the years. The odometer reads 15,999 and your guess is as good as ours on whether it is authentic. Maybe there is a trail of paper that can confirm it however the seller makes no claims either way. We like them honest like this car. If there are no serious issues with the wood parts of the body and it runs well, why not give it a shot. Would have been nice to see the interior. The asking price is $31,000 and without more details, we can’t comment. SCM’s range is $25 to $40,000 if that helps. Click here for the listing.
