Side oiler: ’72 Porsche 911T Targa
There aren’t many inexpensive early 911s anymore so get used to what the new price levels are or shop for a Karmann Ghia. We prefer Coupes over Targas but this one is pretty interesting. It has a few issues but it does have a long-term owner that lavished a lot of love on it over the years. That love is mostly in the form of not driving it much and keeping it maintained and garaged. The ’72 model year has a unique exterior identifier. There is what looks to be a second gas flap on the right side behind the door jamb. It is an oil filler flap. Very cool and as we said, one year only. Today’s Porsche is silver with black sport seats. The seats are covered in the photos but we are told they are in fine condition underneath thanks to the sheep that gave their lives to protect them. The engine is rebuilt but the original MFI is gone replaced by a pair of Webers. It is unusual for a 911 of this vintage and specification to have stamped steel wheels but it does. Read More
