The AC Ace roadster spawned an industry when you come to think of it. The Ace, designed by John Tojeiro, later became the AC Cobra and that created an industry devoted to replicas. But let’s back up a bit. The AC Ace’s beautiful lines were said to be inspired by an early Ferrari Barchetta or little boat. The bodies were hand formed out of alloy on an English wheel then attached to a ladder-type tubular frame. Originally powered by an uninspired relic producing a paltry 100bhp yet it still yielded a 100mph + top speed. In 1954, the Ace was joined by a unique hatchback Coupe called the Aceca. A more powerful Bristol engine was also available and that produced 120 bhp. Read More
