We all know by now that the Pagoda roof SL has finally found a place in Mercedes-Benz history. Collectors are snapping up the best examples at a rapid pace. Like many classics prior to their ascension to stardom, many have been poorly restored or neglected. Frequent readers might remember that these particular M-B SLs have a unique and subtle detail referred to as headlight notches. When a restoration or a repaint is done to a Pagoda SL, many inexperienced shops smooth them over. Although it is a serious fault it doesn’t rule out the car as a “nice driver” status example.
