Clone is good: ’72 Porsche Carrera RS “Replica”
Early 911s are terrific cars to own and drive. That is the reason why prices for just about any variant have gone through the roof. There are some really special cars like the rare and valuable RS Carreras that we all lust after, but there were so few made, demand has priced them out of most Porschephile’s reach. So why not take a nice, solid 911T Coupe and build your own version? We think this is a great idea if it improves your enjoyment level – if that is even possible. The builder of this car had some neat ideas and we are glad he executed them. You should know that the donor car is a solid, rust-free car that was orignally purchased in Kentucky and spent a lot of time in California. There is paperwork to back all of this up. This wasn’t meant to be a correct replica but an interpretation of one using many of the styling cues from the original car. We are referring to the front and rear fiberglass bumpers and the ducktail spoiler. And then there is the side trim heralding the Carrera RS’s spiritual presence. The interior is beautiful with freshly trimmed period Recaro seats. The engine breaths through 40mm Webers and they help produce quite a ruckus. All that jazz flows through a rebuilt 915 5-speed. It slows through vented discs and sports a tuned suspension. This unique Porsche is being sold through one of our favorite dealers in California. Let’s get this one back on the road. The asking price is $44,000. Click here to contact the seller.
