A little closer: ’54 Jaguar XK120 DHC
Yesterday we featured a tattered ’53 XK120 Roadster that needed everything or just needed to get running. Buyer’s choice at around $38,000. We ran across this XK120 Drophead Coupe or DHC and it too isn’t a runner yet. But it is a whole lot closer to being a real driver quality Jaguar and not a rat rod. It is priced accordingly at $76,000 but all you have to do is get this running and you’ll have a very nice Jaguar. You have to like the DHC and many people prefer the bare-bones roadster instead. This one has roll-up windows and a padded “drop top” that makes life easier in a sudden cloud burst. It is also an SE model and that adds to the power and the rarity of this featured Jaguar. According to SCM, it adds a sweet $10 grand to the valuation that will go up to $125,000 for a perfect car. It is beautiful in black and oxblood interior with just the right amount of patina in the interior. So this is an interesting option for those of you who liked yesterday’s more frightening black cat but were afraid it was too much work. By the way, there is verification of all of the equipment and matching numbers by the Heritage Certifcate. That is a good thing to have when considering this kind of investment.
