Free wheeling: ’68 SAAB 96
This featured SAAB 96 will surely cause some raised eyebrows. It is an exceptional example with 33,000 miles from new. The paint and interior are close to pristine. The original owner sold it back to the selling dealer at the ripe old age of 92. It is so nice they kept it on the showroom floor for years. We are big fans of these SAAB automobiles with their legendary handling and quirky styling. If you want to stand out from a crowd and don’t have Murcielago money, a funky SAAB could do it. Dave is a Connecticut resident and seller of this time capsule 96. He has worked diligently to keep it as original as possible even stating that he has refused to succumb to the lure of a Weber Carb. Our hats are off to him. We think Dave wants to be rewarded for his efforts by asking $23,500 for his Silver Sand free wheeler. One might invoke the clichéd response, “try to find another one like it” to justify the price. But frankly an all original SAAB or a repainted one doesn’t make a whole lot of difference to us. An invitation to Pebble Beach, even in the preservation class, is not in the mail. Click here to reach Dave through the Hemmings ad.
