We guess because we have a Mercedes-Benz Fintail (Finnie) that we rave about; readers tend to send us Finnies of similar potential. Potential is the key word here. We rarely see for sale a Mercedes-Benz W111, referred to here in the states as a Fintail and in Europe as a Heckflosse, in totally restored, drivable condition. Either the owners of said Finnies (like us) don’t want to part with them or there aren’t that many surviving examples. Mercedes-Benz always made beautiful, well made cars with convertible tops. The really early cars were virtually hand-built. Later cars became more mass-produced but still had that incredible build quality that made you think it was hand-built. We are big fans of these low volume cars like the 220S Coupe/Cabriolet, the 190SL, the Pagodas and the big Coupes and Cabriolets of the late 60s early 70s. We don’t know where Brian finds these amazing SLs and I am sure if we asked he wouldn’t tell us. OMG is this car stunning. Some folks say brown cars are unsellable. Oh really? Look at this car and tell me if it isn’t stunning. You can see from the few pictures we post that this car is the real deal.
